The newest addition outside the media center is an interactive bulletin board with a digital citizenship theme. I added icons of popular apps for the kids to figure out. I included QR codes for a Digital Etiquette Quiz, an Anti-Cyberbullying video, a public service announcement warning against online predators, and a video on the permanence of online posts. In addition, I added a couple of infographics on being a responsible citizen online.

Where did you go to get all the app icon pictures? This is a great display, thank you for sharing it!
Thank you! We had a great time creating this one. The kids have enjoyed naming the apps that go with the icons too. All the pictures were found via Google search and then filtering for (ideally) large images. In some cases I had to filter for medium sized images to find one I could use. This ensured that my final printouts weren’t pixelated. I added the word icon after the name of the app to narrow the search.
Thanks for our quick reply!
I am totally going to have to try this. Have a great day. š

How did you create the footprint?
I searched for a large image online of a collage of icons. Then I used one of the banner templates in Publisher to print out an oversized image. Then I cut out the foot and toes. Hope this helps.
i would love to recreate this for my school!
I am having trouble finding the words DIGITAL FOOTPRINT as you have it. Can you help me with that?
Also, I don’t understand how you used the banner template.
Thanks soooo much!!!
Digital Footprint was created using Publisher. Click Insert, Word Art, type one letter of your phrase, and then click okay. Right click on the Word Art box and select Format Word Art. Select Fill Effects, click the Picture Tab, and then Select Picture. Browse to where you have the background image you want for that letter to insert it and click okay. Each letter must be done this way. It’s time consuming but worth it.
The banner templates in Publisher allow to print oversized images. I opened Publisher and clicked Banners under More Templates. Scroll down to the bottom under Blank Sizes to select the size you need. Beneath each image, the sizes are listed in inches. I believe we went with the 24 x 18 size.
Magnificent bulletin board! Is it for sale?
Thank you, Vicky. No, it’s not for sale. All my bulletin boards are handmade so I’m not sure how I would go about setting a price for them. š Thanks so much for your kind words though.
What size icons did you print out for the border? Also, what do the shout outs and green poster say? I LOVE this bulletin board!
Thank you! The icons take up 3/4 of a regular sheet of copy paper. I had to put all of them in publisher and resize them to be of equal size. The shout outs say, “Google your name often and take note of the results”, “what you post online is permanent”, “digital citizenship online quiz”, “never share personal information online”, and “never post what you wouldn’t say in person: report cyberbullying”. I included QR codes on them too to videos and the quiz. The links should be up in the original post. The link to the green poster is there too. Hope this helps!
I just came across this bulletin board. WOW!! Fantastic job!!
Thank you. We enjoyed making this one.
Could you supply a list of the digital codes? I am not familiar with many of them. Thank you in advance…
The links for all the QR codes are listed in the original post. Are these the codes you are referring to? I use QR stuff http://www.qrstuff.com/ to create them.
Hello Denise,
AWESOME! I LOVE this board! I know you mentioned this board isn’t for sale but is there anyway to copy these images and then sell them or possibly email the imagesā¦not sure if that will work?
Thanks!
Thank you. I don’t own any of the images so I wouldn’t sell them. They were all found through Internet searches. I can help you find them though. Are you talking about the Apps icons? If you do a Google image search for (fill in the app name) app icon and then click search tools to specify you want a large image, you should be able to find what you need. The other posters can be found in the links in the post. Does this help?
Would you be willing to email me a copy of these images you created so we don’t have to re-create the wheel? Love this!
Thank you! I’m sorry but the board was created a year ago. I didn’t keep any of the pictures and it would be too large a file to email anyway. They really aren’t hard to find. Here are a couple I found in a large image search for “app icon” http://ipad4schools.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/youtube-for-ios-app-icon-full-size.jpg http://blog.ifabbo.com/wp-content/uploads/twitter.png http://aweebitirish.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/pandora-app.png
Hope this helps!
Hello,
Great job on this!
May I know the font letter/size of the word “Digital Prin”?
Thanks so much. Take a look at the other comments and responses to this post. I think the answer to your question may be found there.
Hello Dborck,
You are a superstar! You helped me a lot with this! Keep it up! š
Love this board! I’m going to try to recreate it in my library!
Thanks, Lisa and I’m pleased to hear you will be recreating the board. We cannot stress enough to our kids about the importance of their digital footprint.
OMG. I am going to recreate this! I am the technology teacher at my school and I think it will be perfect outside my classroom!
I’m glad you like it and I am so glad to hear you will be recreating it. The message needs to be sent loud and clear to kids about the importance of a positive digital footprint.
What is the comic strip that is on the board?
I found it on Pinterest…. http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/69/7c/98/697c98f258689f6c766a0c2db856adea.jpg
I am still working on my bulletin board for digital citizenship for the high school. I have tried many times to create a digital code for the video of the permanence of a photo posted on-line (the video that you posted on your blog)….can’t get it to work!! It is the only thing left I need to finish. Could you email me the QR code that you used? Thanks so much. Sue
Oh no, Susan. Make sure in the QR code creator site you are using that you select YouTube video and not just website. That may make the difference. I use qrstuff to create my codes. I will email you a code to the video and hopefully it will work. I would love to see your finished board!!
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!!
Thank you for the bulletin board idea. I was able to create this mostly in publisher. And learned some new things along the way.
That’s great, Jennifer. Glad you found it useful.
I don’t suppose anybody could email me what they have produced. It would save me so much time.
LOVE THIS BOARD!! Just printed out the stuff on my banner printer… now to cut it all out and laminate š
Thank you! Please share your finished product. I would love to see it.
Here is a link to a pic of what I put up this year… still adding a couple things on the wall. https://drive.google.com/a/clevelandcountyschools.org/file/d/0Bw_6XD7CwK-WR2dxQndnVjhpcUJpeU93NGI2WEwtTWJHTXZZ/view?usp=sharing
Hi there! I love this! What happened to your Safebook poster?
It should be working now.
I cannot read what you have in the cloud images around the footprint
Check out all the comments. All the information I used to create the board are there.
Would you be willing to share the files you used to create this if you still have them? I’m going into my first year as a middle school technology teacher and I love this idea!
I don’t have the files but check out all the comments. I explained how I created the board there. Good luck!
LOVE THIS! I run 2 technology labs at our center and I am recreating this for our Teen Center Lab. I was just wondering what the one cyber bullying cloud says? I can’t quite make it out in the picture. Thanks! Great job!
Thank you! Check the comments of the post. Details to recreate the board are located there.
Any idea how big your board size is … Thinking about using this idea for the wall behind my circulation desk at my junior high buy need to figure out how much I would need to enlarge everything to fill my space … Also all my computers are Macs … Any ideas on the best application to make these in since there is no publisher for Mac?
Any idea on the dimensions of your board? I want to use this on my large white wall behind my junior high circulation desk but trying to determine how large I may need to increase everything by to fill my space. Also any recommendations on a program to print everything in large sizes since I only have Macs and there is no publisher on the Mac platform?
Dimensions of the board are 8×4 feet. Have you checked Word? My understanding is Word for Macs has more features similar to Publisher than the PC version. You could try Publisher Plus too or what about http://posterazor.sourceforge.net/ I’m sorry but I don’t have much experience with Macs. Good luck!
Wonderful board! I’ve been talking to my 8th graders about digital footprints and I want to create something like this to put up in the 8th grade hall. I hope my board turns out as nice as yours. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thanks so much! We had a lot of fun with this one. Good luck!

Hello Denise,
Thanks for sharing this awesome work. Can’t access the Digital Etiquette Quiz. Can you please share the new link? Cheers
Hi Denise,
Thank you so much for sharing your board with everyone! I’m the school nurse and raffled off a bulletin board makeover. Our computer teacher won, but didn’t have any clue what she wanted. After searching the net, I came across your board and it was great inspiration.
I appreciate you explaining how you made everything! I learned a lot making this board.
