All week long we are celebrating Red Ribbon Week with the theme, “Love Yourself. Be Drug Free”. Each day brings something different for the students here at WJMS. Camouflage, crazy socks, best dressed, wear red, and hat day are featured during the week.
Each classroom door is to be decorated too. For the media center door, we used two large red ribbons on either side. We added the Love Yourself Enough poster in the center at the top. In the middle at the bottom, we placed a heart filled with student hands(we needed tons so students tracing and cutting for this one was so helpful). The pictures are before and after drug use mugshots. Each picture allows you to flip it up to see how badly drugs can affect your body(see the slideshare below). The students can’t resist looking even if the pictures are so terrible. I’ve heard many of the kids state that just looking at the pictures is enough for them to never try drugs. Drug-free door decorations…..SUCCESS!
